Día de Apreciación del Pasajero

Sunset Empire Transportation District ha anunciado que su “Día de Apreciación de Pasajeros” anual se llevará a cabo el 25 de enero de 2022. El Distrito reserva un día cada año y ofrece servicio de autobús gratuito en todas las rutas regulares de autobuses en todo el Condado de Clatsop en agradecimiento por el apoyo continuo de la comunidad y los pasajeros a los que sirve. “Nuestros pilotos son muy importantes para nosotros y queremos que sepan que los apreciamos”, dijo el director ejecutivo Jeff Hazen. El “Día de Apreciación de pasajeros” está programado para coincidir con el evento Project Homeless Connect que también se llevará a cabo del 2al 5 de enero en el Seaside Convention Center  de10 a.m. a  2  p.m. para que aquellos que quieran asistir puedan viajar en autobús al evento de forma gratuita. The Sunset Empire Transportation District Board of Commissioners is seeking volunteers from Clatsop County who are registered voters and would like to serve on the District Budget Committee.  The Budget Committee is comprised of 7 District Board Members and 7 community members who are appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serve a 3-year term.  There are currently 5 community member positions open on the committee with one being a 2-year fulfillment of a 3-year term. Generally, the Budget Committee meets once each year in the Spring, but they may hold additional meetings if needed.  We are anticipating that the Budget Committee will be meeting virtually via Zoom in 2022.  Those interested in serving on the SETD Budget Committee are asked to submit a letter of interest which can be emailed to [email protected], dropped off at the Astoria Transit Center, 900 Marine Drive, Seaside Transit Office, 39 North Holladay or mailed to Sunset Empire Transportation District, 900 Marine Drive, Astoria, OR 97103. Please submit letters of interest by January 31, 2022.

La Junta de Comisionados del Distrito de Transporte de Sunset Empire está buscando voluntarios del Condado de Clatsop que sean votantes registrados y les gustaría servir en el Comité de Presupuesto del Distrito.  El Comité de Presupuesto está compuesto por 7 miembros de la Junta de Distrito y 7 miembros de la comunidad que son nombrados por la Junta de Comisionados y sirven un término de 3 años.  Actualmente hay 5 puestos de miembros de la comunidad abiertos en el comité, uno de los cuales es un cumplimiento de 2 años de un mandato de 3 años. FREE TRANSPORTATION FOR COVID-19 VACCINATIONS

Free transportation available to any of the Clatsop County COVID Vaccination Clinic’s, local Health Care Providers, or Pharmacies. Transportation is provided by appointment only. Vaccination appointment information will be verified prior to scheduling transportation. Scheduling is required at least 24 hours in advance.

Transporte gratuito disponible para cualquiera de las Clinicas de Vacunación COVID del Condado de Clatsop, proveedores de atención médica locales o farmacias. Recinto ferial del condado de Clatsop: El servicio de autobús gratuito está disponible desde el Centro de Tránsito de Astoria hasta las Clínicas de Vacunas COVID que se llevarán a cabo en el Recinto Ferial de Clatsop el 10 de noviembre y el 17 de noviembre de 4 PM a 7 PM. Los autobuses saldrán del Centro de Tránsito a las 3:30 PM y continuarán recogiendo y dejó pasajeros en el Recinto Ferial y regresarán al Centro de Tránsitocada 30 minutos.

Armería de Astoria y Centro Marítimo deBarbey:  Un servicio de transporte especial estará disponible de 9:30 a.m. a 5:30 p.m.  desde el Centro de Tránsito de Astoria a las dos clínicas de vacunas COVID que se llevarán a cabo en Astoria el 13 de noviembre^a.m. La clínica astoria Armory es de 10 AM a 2 PM. La clínica Barbey  Maritime Center Latino Outreach es de 11 a.m. a 5 p.m. Los autobuses saldrán del Centro de Tránsito a partir de las 9:30 AM con paradas en la Armería de Astoria, Museo Marítimo, Emerald Heights, Museo Marítimo, Armería y regresarán al Centro de Tránsito cada 30 minutos.

Bus service is free for anyone who is going to a COVID Vaccine site or to transfer to one of the COVID Vaccine Clinic shuttle buses. Please let driver know what clinic you are going to when boarding the bus.  

Clatsop County Fairgrounds: Free bus service is available from the Astoria Transit Center to the COVID Vaccine Clinics being held at the Clatsop Fairgrounds on November 10^th and November 17^th from 4 PM to 7 PM. Buses will leave the Transit Center at 3:30 PM and will continue to pick up and drop off passengers at the Fairgrounds and return to theTransit Center every 30 minutes.

Astoria Armory and Barbey Maritime Center: A Special Shuttle will be available from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM from the Astoria Transit Center to both of the COVID Vaccine Clinics being held in Astoria on November 13^th. The Astoria Armory clinic is from 10 AM to 2 PM. The Barbey Maritime Center Latino Outreach clinic is from 11 AM to 5 PM. Buses will leave the Transit Center starting at 9:30 AM with stops at the Astoria Armory, Maritime Museum, Emerald Heights, Maritime Museum, Armory and return to the Transit Center every 30 minutes.

Executive Director Jeff Hazen regrets to announce that due to the severe driver shortage SETD is experiencing, he will be making a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners that will make  significant cuts to public transportation services that the District provides.  The driver shortages are not unique to SETD, this shortage is affecting transportation providers in all sectors across the nation.

The following routes will be proposed for suspension effective September 6, 2021:

Route 17 Cannon Beach weekdays

Route 21 Cannon Beach weekends

Route 13 Astoria weekends

Route 16 Warrenton weekends

Seaside Streetcar weekends

Route 15 Warrenton weekdays will only operate during the morning from 5:50am – 9:03 am and evening 5:30pm – 8:43 pm

Route 101 will be cut from four buses per day to two with frequency approximately one hour

In addition, each route will be shut down for an hour during each shift for the driver’s lunch break.

This recommendation will be made at the August 26^th Board meeting held at 9:00am on Zoom.  If you would like to provide written public comment, please email it to Jeff Hazen at [email protected] by 3:00pm on Thursday August 19^th.  If you would like to provide comments at the Board meeting, please email Jeff Hazen by 5:00pm

 on August 25^th to be placed on the public comment list and receive instructions on how to access the meeting.  Public comments made at the meeting are limited to three minutes per person.

Due to a shortage of bus drivers, Sunset Empire Transportation District is reducing service on Route 101 between Astoria and Seaside. Effectively immediately, and for an indefinite period, a bus will leave the Astoria Transit Center for Seaside each hour and forth-five minutes from 6:00 AM until 8:00 PM each weekday. The last bus will return from Seaside to the Transit Center at 9:29 PM each day.

We are making every effort to restore this service to its previous level as soon as possible.

The appointee will serve the remainder of an open term of Position 6 until term expiration June 30th, 2023.
The Sunset Empire Transportation District Board of Commissioners is comprised of 7 board members. Each member is elected by the registered voters of the district to serve a 4-year term. Applicants for the vacant position must be registered voters who reside within the district’s boundaries.
