From:  Debbie Boothe-Schmidt

Interim Executive Director Debbie Boothe-Schmidt has announced that Sunset Empire Transportation District will begin a new Microtransit Service Pilot program on June 1, 2025. SETD and Providence Health Services are partners in the development of the new transportation program. Providence Health Services have contributed a $50,000 grant to assist SETD in developing the new Microtransit Pilot program that will increase access to care and services in the Seaside and Cannon Beach area.  The SETD Microtransit Pilot program is utilizing the existing SETD Paratransit services to provide a more user-friendly, flexible on-demand service that will pick up riders at or near their location to improve the current midday transit service gaps. The goal of the SETD Microtransit Pilot program is to provide convenient, accessible, public transportation, improving residents’ access to care and services which is in alignment with the Providence Health Services vision of creating healthier communities together. The SETD Microtransit Pilot program is free for participants and the ridership data collected during the pilot program will be utilized in the further development of the Microtransit program.
